Details of swap:
Did you accidentally run your favorite wool sweater through the washer on "hot"? Do you lurk in the sweater aisle of the thrift store, searching for that large size cashmere sweater on 50% off day? This swap is for items crafted out of fulled (aka felted) sweaters - think coasters, purses, stuffies, mittens, applique, whatever suits your fancy.  This is not a swap for knitting, crocheting, or for wet/needle felting, unless these techniques are employed using a fulled sweater as a major component (so needlefelting embellishments onto a chopped up fulled sweater is fine).  Any fulled wool repurposed item can be used as material - for example scarves, hats, blankets, etc - the key ingredients here are "fulled" and "repurposed".  This is a swap of *crafted* items, not just sending a shrunken sweater to your partner. We will be crafting 1 medium and 2 small items for this swap.

Please note that Delivery Confirmation is REQUIRED if you are shipping domestically within the USA. If you are shipping internationally, you must save a copy of your shipping receipt. Failure to do so will be noted in the comments section of your feedback. Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

I would like to do this, but I don't have any fulled sweaters around....is it fairly easy to find some at a thrift store or does it depend a lot on luck?  Huh  I would hate to spend more time scrambling to find a cheap sweater to felt, than to actually craft.

lunamadre, I see that you and I are from the same part of the world! Around here (and I live about 80 miles south of you) it's very easy to find wool sweaters very cheap. Our local Goodwill almost always has some on their 29cent racks. And of course, there are always yard sale finds.

I hope you join the swap -- looks like it will be a lot of fun!

that's true, we do get plenty of weather that requires wool! lol  I usually go to thrift stores to look for clothes, I have never looked for this kind of purpose so I was wondering......Thanks zcrafter, i just checked your profile and the sweater bag you made is adorable, I love it.  I'm originally from Pittsburgh PA, btw.

Hey, if we find another piece of ready made clothing that is wool/fulled (like a scarf or skirt for example) can we use that as well?
I am definitely interested in this swap, I just shipped for my first swap this week, so I should get feedback soon and might sign up then. Smiley

Yes, any type of repurposed clothing, accessory, or I guess even a blanket or something is ok. I'll note that items with a "dry clean only" label tend to be more likely to full - ones that say "machine washable" probably have been treated so that the fabric won't full at all.

I just sent my questionnaire in!  I have been doing a lot of felted wool crafting lately, and using wool blankets also, so I am happy to see that is allowed.

I have a swap question - if one were to craft a throw pillow cover, is it inappropriate to send the cover, but not a pillow form?  Sending a pillow cover and pillow form in a previous swap pushed my shipping over the size limit, and it ended up costing an extra 10.00 to send.  I keep the shipping costs in mind, and I debate sending a pillow cover (no pillow form) and spending more money on crafting items to send, vs, sending a complete gift where my partner doesn't need to buy/supply anything to complete it.  I guess the other option is to squish down a pillow as small as I can and stuff it in the box...  Or ask my partner what they think, but then the surprise is gone.  I do think it's nice to send both though... What do you swappers think?

I've told my mother-in-law I'm using old clothes for sewing new things, and now she's bringing me old clothes all the time!  I'll mention wool sweaters to her again!

korok..

personally I wouldnt want my partner to spend more on shipping than on the actual crafts..

I would think NOT sending a form would be OK..
