My aunt gave me her old Barbie doll when she moved.  Barbie has a couple of original boring outfits, and a couple from the 80's when my cousin played with her.  So Barbie and I decided she needed a new wardrobe.  The pattern is Simplicity Sewing for Dummies 7073.  Very easy!

A nod to Barbie's past: mod dress

With shrug

Casual set

Fancy dress with shrug

Another fancy dress.  I can't get this one to come out quite right.  I even remade the bodice twice.  I'm going to try something new, but I'm out of this pretty fabric right now.

Bodice won't close in the back (maybe Barbie is too well-endowed).

I'm sure I'll be making more.  There are more outfits to try from the pattern.

I had a hand me down barbie just like this one!! (it was my sister's; she's older; don't tell her I told)  Gosh, I wish I still had her.  These dresses are nice.  Please share if you make more.  I love it!!  Good work!!

I loved Barbie when I was a girl. I would have been so tickled with those outfits, especially the two fancy ones. I hope my daughter is into dolls so we can create together.

Cute, cute, cute!

I think you may be right about your Barbie being "too well endowed".

They changed her measurements a few years ago, and reduced her bust measurement (and I think increased waist and/or hips).

If you have the older Barbie (and I think you do), the newer patterns probably won't fit right, especially stuff that is designed to be tight.

Excellent work! I've been trying to get ideas for clothes as I would like to make some for my nieces' Barbie dolls. This is great inspiration! A really wonderful post.

My favorites are the pants in the casual set and shrug with the fancy dress.  Nice job!  I'm toying with the idea of making clothes for my daughters' Barbies, but I'm scared of the itty bitty scale.
