It's a new year and a new Halloween. Anyone want to revive this? I need to start brainstorming now, or I'll just end up buying something lame again.

My ideas so far are hit-girl (probably popular this year....but so much fun!)
Bellatrix Lestrange - I just LOVE her costume for the movies. So bad-ass!
An artsy cirque-se-solie style animal
Star Trek character - because I've never done it, and I love that show so much!

Ooo, I'm intrigued by the idea of the cirque du soliel animal!

But Bellatrix is cool, definitely!

I'm going for space girl this year. My friend sent me a pair of those unbelievably metalic looking stretchy legging/pant things in silver, I have a great two tone blue bob wig, and that's it so far. If I find a really good squirt gun I'll paint it silver and blue and rig a halter for it. I was thinking about a clear vinyl skirt of some kind, like a super flared mini, it's stiff enough that the hem should stick out like a hula hoop, especially if I edge it with a thick layer of duct tape or even tape on a hoop of something from the harware store (best shop for costume stuff Ever!).

Any ideas for a top? I'm stuck there. Ziggy stardust glam rocker spiky shoulder things of some sort or is that too much? I don't know...

I'm finally going to make that chicken costume I've been planning for my daughter forever. Before she gets old enough to want to dress up like a princess, ugh.
Little dude hasn't made up his mind but he'd better think on it soon, it just around the corner, yipe!

I'm still in. I never did make my Halloween princess costume for last year.

Long-time lurker, first time poster.  Grin

My husband and I are big fans of the cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender. We've got plans to go as the characters Sokka and Suki for Halloween. All DIY, of course. I also just found out that my little brother and sister want to dress up as the characters Aang and Yue, so I'll be making their costumes as well. I'd love to share the costumes with you guys as my first post!! Super exciting!!

Anyways, I would like to see if I could get some advice on something. Suki is a female warrior and her costume is very...battle-esque.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for armor. I was thinking maybe some sports padding, like an umpire's chest protector. She also has a metal headress that I have NO IDEA how I'm going to go about.  Undecided Any suggestions?

maybe you could use black fabric for the armor and plete it (is that the right spelling?)

The headdress could be made out of plastic. In fact, kitty litter sometimes comes in yellow plastic boxes. Gold paint and sandpaper should make it perfect. Smiley
