I just don't understand why it has to be so complicated. It took me almost 3 days to set up a fan page after much sweat and tears!

When all was said and done I was really proud of the effort! So I bought a Facebook ad for about $10 a day. I went back and went back to see on the first day that I had been charged $50!!!!

I guess the default setting have overidden mine. But the good news is that after contacting FB, they did not charge me for it!

However, I still struggle with the site which is super frustrating.

I'm still learning about FB. I asked on another forum about taking out an ad & reading your story here is making me not want to take out an ad. You were lucky that they didn't charge you for it. I think a lot of people would prob pay the price instead of going thru the hassle of contacting them. Write back about how your ad does - I'm curious.

Wow - sorry to hear that! They do tend to make stuff pretty difficult. It's really annoying  Roll Eyes.

I've heard about similar problems with paid craigslist ads... except they're not issuing refunds.

The fan page is really confounding. I put one up, could never find it again, then put up another one and made sure I bookmarked the darn thing!

I'd say that Facebook has made it relatively complicated to have a fan page that works well. One way to look at it is to say that Facebook is mostly for people to connect with people, therefore businesses should have to work extra hard to be there. Don't forget though, that it is still a tool to connect with your friends/colleagues/customers and in that it should be given the same care as if you were speaking with them in person (ie not pushing ads or other marketing all the time).

I just wish there was some way to get notification that someone has posted on your fan page!

I'm still working out how best to use my FB fan page, but the first thing I did when I got it set up was to ask all of my friends to join so that if an actual fan finds it, they're not intimidated by being the first person to join.  It seems to have worked.

Can some of your friends join my fan page...  Smiley
