I had to make somebody a little thankyou gift and I was inspired by all the journals posted here... I cut up some nice thick stationery to be the inside pages and used patterned cardstock for the cover, then I clipped it all together with paperclips, poked holes in the spine, and stitched it up with embroidery thread. I know NOTHING about bookbinding so I just sewed and then tied the loose ends together when I was done. I think it came out cute...

Here's the cover.

And here's a photo to show the inside. I left a narrow rim of cardstock around the edges of the paper to protect it, and the paper's a pretty dove-grey.

I can't believe no one replied to this! I'm trying my hand at DIY bookbinding as we speak and am having trouble finding info on signature sewing that doesn't require an awl... lol

But anyway, just had to say great job! I hope you do more, and if you figure out signature sewing, help a sister out Smiley

I've been using my sewing machine, set on the longest stitch, to sew my signatures.  Don't know if you have a machine or can use one, but that's one way to do it without an awl.

This notebook is gorgeous!  Great job, I love the colors and the overall affect.
