The Day of the Dead is fast approaching! This is the make-up I did for myself last year. I used Ben Nye.

So cute. I tried to do dia de los muertos make-up last Halloween, but it came out a scrambled mess and I ended up being a possessed baby doll:) You did wonderfully! Ben Nye is what? The brand name? Not familiar with any so Is there a specific place you get the make-up?

Ben Nye is a brand of make up. I'm taking a course in Stage Makeup this semester and it's what they strongly recommend we use. Not the cheapest stuff out there but so worth it.

You can get a kit for $70, with three shades of foundation, colors for lips, highlight (a pale version of your skin tone), shadow (a dark version of your skin tone), black and brown liner, lip liner, rouge, a few make up brushes, a small bottle of liquid latex, lil bottle of blood (mint flavored!), a color wheel for doing cuts and bruises and a few other things. You get a lot of stuff for a pretty good price. You can pick a kit at a costume store, sometimes art stores (especially ones that cater or theater folk.)

PS You're sugar skull is flipping awesome!

It's the brand that I used. I'm sure you can find it online. I live in Los Angeles, so I bought it at Cinema Secrets. They have an online store. I know they also sell it at this place called Naimies.

The specific type I used is in cake form. You add water and apply it with a brush or sponge. They also sell a liquid that makes the make up water proof when you mix it in. To make it extra white I applied a thin coat, let it dry, and re applied. I used a sponge to blend it and dusted it with baby powder to set it.

That kit sounds awesome. I didn't get a kit, I just got a small cake of 8 different basic colors. Black, white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. I don't remember how much I spent on it.

The kit I have is creme. I think they do a cake kit, but maybe that is kryolite. I know my prof recommended cake if people tend to sweat a lot, which I probably would be better off with during Halloween when I'm running around like an sugar-cracked-out eight year old.
