Tye-dye cookies - Now with pic instructions

My son's school is having a BBQ tomorrow and everyone was asked to bring in either bars or cookies. I wanted to make something fun for the kids, I think they'll get a kick out of these. My son (5) was blown away by them

Here are the instructions, they are so easy, and yes they are sugar cookies:

Separate your dough into 4 equal portions and tint it using food colouring paste. Chill dough for about 20-30 mins. You don't want it to get too hard or the colours won't mush together as well. Once it's ready, take small gumball sized blobs of each colour of dough...



Now roll the dough out in your hand into a snake shape



Curl your snake of dough around into a circle shape and place on your baking tray



Ta-Da! Easy Peasy!

I'm sure they'll be a hit! i just made tie-dye cupcakes for my niece's birthday, I was a little nervous that since she's just turning four and hitting her "I don't wanna eat that" stage that they wouldn't go over well, but she loved them! PHEW

OMG these look fantastic. It makes me wish I didn't "let" hubby break our oven. I really miss baking since the inlaws moved away and I can't borrow their oven occasionally in exchange for sweet treats. Well, I got side tracked...

Awesome job. They look so tasty and fun looking. I wonder if some weird kids will try to peel apart the colors and eat each separately.

ooh sweet. I'm glad somebody else figured this out. I did this a long time ago but made like a millefiori cane out of sugar cookie dough that was shaped like a pumpkin (halloween) and a spiral. I think I did this in high school ... which was before craftster was born. I need to try this again, so thanks for posting this!

I'd love to make these, but in christmas colours.

Like normal sugar cookie colour, then a green and red.
