Oh my word, I just tried canning this year for the first time, too! Using the same book! Sweet. It must be a sign. We got some cheap strawberries from the Bountiful Baskets co-op (bountifulbaskets.org, check it out friends!) and I made the jam twice (gave me about 9 pints) and I also made strawberry ice cream, which I think was the best way to preserve them Wink, thought it didn't really last long enough to count as preserving I don't think. I'm really glad the lemonade concentrate recipe is good. I was worried about it. Next time I get berries I'm totally making it now as per your recommendation. Thanks for the reviews!

Very cool, jex! Strawberry ice cream sounds lovely. Did you use one of those ice cream machines? I think I'm going to try blueberries next, then hopefully salsa.

We got an ice cream maker attachment for our KitchenAid stand mixer that rocks! It usually come out really soft but is really good after being in the freezer for a couple hours. I've been using the Ben and Jerry's ice cream book, too.

I ordered 16 lbs of blueberries, 18 lbs of cherries, and 25 lbs of peaches to be picked up this Saturday (I'm telling you Americans, bountifulbaskets.org is amazing!) so I think as long as I can find some good, cheap jars I will be set for canning the whole next week. I've been using my stock pot to can but my MIL said her g'ma's canner is up for grabs, just need a new gasket so I think that would make canning with the kids even more exciting. I seem to have abducted your thread, I'm sorry. I'll make my own post next week I promise! I'm just so excited.
