I am a knitter. I can crochet a big long chain until the cows come home but feck me if I can make it into anything resembling, well, anything other than a big long chain.

Well, now I've seen this and I want it minus the $200 price tag: http://www.betseyjohnson.com/graphics/products/details/5674_111.jpg

Figured I'd show it to you crafty ladies in case any of you want to make your own knockoff. And, of course, share the pattern with me...I plan to tackle crochet once Miss Deb's new book comes out  Grin.

Wow, that looks almost as simple as it comes.  just a bunch of single crochet.  Let me look for a pattern with a similar top, and from there it'll be easy.

the only hard part i can see on it is the pink lace....it looks like store bought lace that was crocheted on
i suggest when you decide to try get some scrap fabric and a hole puncher and try to crochet in the holes

Yeah, but even that can be treated just as though it were a row of previous stitches.

Does that maniquin give anyone else the creeps?  I wonder if I could knit something like that... Shocked

I thought it was just me, that is one freaky looking maniquin.

Amazing what someone thinks is worth $200. $200 and AC Moore - oh wow couldn't we all have fun and have a whole lot more than just one little top to show for it.

I was thinking, wouldn't this be a fun use of a bikini-top pattern?  Just knit the band-bit a little thicker and start adding lace.  You could even MAKE your own lace out of thread crochet.  (Of course, buying it is faster...)

$200! Damnit! I can't wait til i'm so well kown that i can raise the hell outta my prices! I could charge $200 for some of my tops but only about 8 of the women who buy from me would be able to afford it! I wish i could though because some of my supplies (trimmings and such) are getting just outrageously expensive.
