To be honest, and to extend mamarose's answer, I make what I want. I do take into consideration color and materials (if someone says no feathers, for example) but I usually get an idea and then I can't stop thinking about it or sketching it. In the previous galleries, you might see I made 3 or 4 of the same or similar thing - vegetables, computers, and this last round was birds. I want to try something new (for me) or expand on someone else's idea that I saw here on Craftster or on Flickr. I also get ideas from all the design shows I watch, other areas of Craftster and sometimes from my students.

The main point being - Have Fun! And try something new. And make something you hate to give away but hope that your partner loves as much as you do.

I'm so tempted to join this swap! I loved all the past galleries and would love to try my hand at these dotees. It would be my first dotee swap. Smiley Will have to think about it though.

As much as I'd love to join in on this round, I'm gonna have to skip it. Just too much craziness right now. Probably the next one though. I still have tons of ideas.

Happy Dotees everyone.

Don't be ahamed - it is pronounced "dot - eeee". They are named after the woman who first made them and talked about them on her blog. She's in Australia, I think, and I used to have the link, but it may be discontinued...She still posts and she still makes these dolls for friends and swaps. I'll look for the link. It's a good question and worth asking.
