I sent out blocks to malisha, 1boy1girl1kitty2, sloth003 and chinarockfishakm today and yesterday I received a lovely block from j_q_adams Smiley

Just thought I'd post it in case I forgot by Monday that I actually accomplished something this week.

I received my beautiful, complicated, how-the-heck-did-that-go-together block from John.   Grin Thanks, John!

Can someone give me tips on printing out paper piecing templates from Quilters cache?  I don't get how to adjust for the scaling?  I'm sure I'm just not thinking it through, but I'm getting annoyed at myself for printing so many mistakes.

Marmish, I just self-taught myself how to paper piece last weekend!  (Your block was my first!!)  I then made Sandy's block from a pattern on Quilter's Cache.  I didn't really have any problems printing it to scale ... I just printed it the way I would print anything else.  I am sorry to hear you're having some problems!

when you go to your print on your computer (can you tell I'm not a techie?) you can usually find a choice for scaling - offering choices like "not scaling" and "fit to page" etc. Of course, I'm not sure exactly where it is because each printer's stuff is different *sigh*

Ok, I asked my husband again for help and showed him step by step what I was doing.  Here's what we figured out.  When I click on the link, for example, Florida Star, then click on the template A, the browser scales down the image  on the screen so you can see the whole thing.  If you click on it, it returns it to 100%, then can be printed with no scaling, which, for me, is in the print preview screen.  So simple, but sooo frustrating!

Before, the print preview setting would be 100% but on the actual page printing it would say "scaled 72%" or something similar.  I'll be checking browser settings to see if I can change it to not scale down the images.

Just wanted to let you all know it's ok to sub or add a white on white pattern if you're coming up short for my blocks.

Monday update, nothing new over the weekend on the swap...busy about the house though, finally got the kitchen shelves hung, the boybarian's old bed taken down and new one put up...some cleaning happened in the garage...

I'll work on blocks here and there over the week Wink

Monday update:

I send out my other swap this week, so after that it's full steam ahead for this one.  I have another block in my camera that I need to post and a couple more that I'm going to try to mail when I send out the other swap.

I'm also finishing up a swap that goes out this week, along with planning a football banquet for 325 and wallpapering my bathroom so the flooring guys can get in there by Wednesday.  I will be working diligently on everyone's blocks after Thanksgiving!
