I've had two of these dingy Target paper lanterns for years

and decided that they needed a serious makeover:
all that I really kept are the cords and lampshade rings.  I made the new shades out of plasticore.  it's actually a fairly easy project, and I took a bunch of photos to serve as instructions, if anyone is interested...

At first glance... (besides the kick butt lamp) I really love the polaroid/edged images... Looks like a neat way to display the project....

but your revamping of the lame is too cool... I'm in serious need of new lighting for my room, so instructions would be great.... So what be this plasticore stuff? I'm assuming it is plastic, I wonder if Tap Plastics (a plastic store) would carry it....

Speaking of Tap Plastics they have this stuff  that looks a lot like the textured paper in Japanese room screens, I wonder if I could pull off a similar style (as in with your lamp) with the stuff?

Ahhh so many questions.... Great job on the lamp!!! (and the display of the images, heh)

thanks!  and yes, plasticore is corrugated plastic.  you can get it on-line in all different colors, or in store at Michael's (they only sell 20" x 30" sheets of white, which is what I used)

I'll post some instructions early this weekend...

sorry that it took so long, but I can't even write a grocery list without throwing in a little bit of design...

I'm sure that I must have left something out, so let me know if you are having any troubles!
