I just finished this tree today. I've been working on it all week for hours at a time. This one is considerably bigger than most of my other trees. From the bottom of the rock to the top branch, it's 10 inches tall. It's inspired by the two little glass birds in the branches. I found them at a gift shop and just loved them. They definitely needed a tree to sit in.  I used copper wire, 7 different colors of size 11 seed beads (I made the mix myself), and almost 50 swarovski crystal bicones in double AB peridot.

The whole tree:

The birdies:

The "leaves":

And just for fun, here's what the tree looks like from the top:

I'm starting to second-guess my choice of rock. What do you think of the color and size?

I'm not sure the white background does this justice. I'd love to see it in natural light and/or against a different color before I 'critique'. I can say that I love the birds, that the roots are long and more natural looking (from what I can see) and I like the from-the-top angle. As to color, shape and composition of the tree (and rock)... I can't see it well enough.

Another amazing piece, Amy.
The birds are so sweet.  I think the rock looks great.

I think you did a great job! I love the way the roots wrap around the rock...very unique and clever. And those birds are a great touch!

what an adorable piece, i love the way it sits on the rock.  I think the rock is a good choice, it has a nice contrast from the wire. i love the little birdies.

Oooh I love it.  I am just getting into wire and would love to make something like this someday.  The cute birds look like if they've found home sweet home.
