Mmm *drooling* I would have a hard time eating that. But it's so irresistible!

It was really good... but I had no idea Mom was going to use so many cake mixes. We still have cake in the freezer that wasn't even used for this! My actual birthday isn't till the 16th, but it was challenge inspired... even if we did go a little out of the element with other ingredients... I really did try to stick to the rules.

Actually, Just want to make it known, not all of those cake mixes made it into the cake. There's a batch of cupcakes in the fridge! So delete one for sure. There may be a small round in there too..
I saved all the little miniature pieces. I got the idea today to make bigger dynamite sticks out of stick matches, wrapped in painted tissue, with a fuse, just like the mini's. I'm going to put them on Gold frosted cupcakes, on my actual birthday. When the fuse burns, the match will flare up! Not quite an explosion, but almost!

It would have been cool to turn this cake into a volcano, of flowing red syrup, but it would have required a mini pump, and a built-in reservoir, as well as a path for the syrup to flow. Otherwise, could you imgine the mess you'd have?

What a cool idea! "Gold mine" gold birthday is great, and I agree about your attention to detail. I never would have thought of making a cake from dollar store supplies!
