After seeing the pettiskirt tutorial on here, I decided to make my daughter one for her 3rd birthday. She chose black and fuschia when we went tulle shopping. The most tedious part was cutting out the strips (which I cut one by one) It took as long to cut the strips as it did to ruffle and sew the skirt.

So here it is.........

The bow is the same colour as the bottom ruffle my camera was being funny

Kinda an action shot.....

The bow isnt attached here

cheers
Tess

Aww, that's so cute! I wish I could wear something like that without getting funny looks. Cry

I'm not happy, I'm cheerful. There's a difference.

Great job!  It looks just like the $70 boutique pettis!

I think its really cute. I've always like the combo of black and hot pink. Good job! I think its time for me to try to make one.

how many layers is this one? I am trying to make a tiny petti skirt but somehow it never seems full enough. I also could not find the tutorial, apparently mommy brain is really getting to me!

This looks a million times better than the (sorry)junk I saw in the store this morning with half their seams already torn apart. It's beautiful!  So well made too.  You did a great job!  How long did it take you to sew it all those strips together?

I used to be strictly a yarn girl but now I'm teaching myself to sew.  Help! Smiley

I cut it all the night before and sewed for about 4hours (stopping a few times to attend to the new born and ice the birthday cake) the next morning so she could wear it to her party.
