This is a Starfleet uniform I made for my daughter to wear, hopefully this october! (If it still fits her by then.) This is a circa 2366-2372 class A uniform (or Star Trek: The Next Generation, season 3-7) with appropriate insignia for a commander...hopefully my husband will be getting a captain's uniform!

This is a close up of the rank insignia and communicator done with gold and silver fabric paint.

And here is a picture of the back of the uniform...surprisingly this was the hardest part to figure out because none of the uniform web sites I found showed pictures of the back! This required much "research" on my part, which roughly translated means I spent 4 hours watching episodes!

I really, really love the way this project turned out! Please C&C!

You got "rocks", from me! This is darling. Wish I could get my kids interested enough in Trek, of any era, to convince 'em to wear the uni's!  Grin

This is so cute.  You did a wonderful job, and all of that *difficult* research really paid off.

Wonderfully done!  Of course, we have to do extensive research for accuracy! Grin

Lol! Thanks everyone! It's nice to be supported in my nerdiness! I guess I just am hoping to pass it on to the "Next Generation"! Oh wow, that was cheesy. But seriously, thanks for the support! I'll update it when I finish the plush phaser and tricorder I'm going to attempt!

That is super cute.  Great job on recreating the uniform!  Great idea on using the paint for the insignia.  I bet an embroidery would be hard to find.

Oh yeah, embroidery was impossible! I actually considered simply buying the insignia pins, but she IS only going to be 13 months old, sooo...

Wow!!! That is so amazing. You got it so right on aesthetically. It was immediately recognizable as a TNG - specific uniform, only scaled down much. And daddy's going to wear a captain's uniform? Awww....

if my husband saw this...he'd be begging me to make one for each of our kiddos! It looks great & I'll keep my fingers crossed that it still fits your little commander by Halloween!  Cheesy

That is fantastic.  I'm sure she looks super cute in it.
Although instead of a commander's uniform shouldn't she still be a cadet  Wink
I'm just teasing this is awesome.

Oh and quick question did you start with clothing and modify it or is the uniform completely from scratch?

I've recently introduced TNG to my room mates and got them all hooked! We're all going to be TNG characters for halloween and this will be a great guide for help! Thanks!

Thanks everyone! I was starting to feel kind of silly...all the other moms in my mom's group gave me really weird looks when we were discussing Halloween costumes. Apparently "Starfleet commander" just isn't up to par with "butterfly" and "princess." One girl didn't even know what Starfleet was! Who knew? It's good to get such positive feedback!

I love this!  Im going to attempt to throw an infant one together in time for saturday!  Thanks for the detailed pictures!

FINISHED!  This was so much fun, now I want to make an adult sized one Smiley

Thanks again for the attention to the back of the uniform
