actually... I didn't base it off a single family portrait... the composition was entirely on the spot and I tried to capture the essence of each family member.   

I used acrylics straight from the bottle...  i used pencil and gently drew dots along a ruler to make it easier to paint red dots on the face (like a comic strip)

Other than that, just took along time and patience!
