Check out http://www.fashion-incubator.com/archive/sleeve_cap_ease_is_bogus/
It doesn't really have instructions on how to do it, but it is interesting.

The sleeve is based on the measurements of the arm hole, so keep that in mind.

I can point you here, there are the instructions to make the pattern of a basic sleeve.  The downside:  it's in Spanish.  But the drawings are quite clear, so I thought it might help.

It's in the last section of this page.  Scroll down until you see the section called "Mangas".  You'll find it easily.

And no, it's not odd to want a different type of sleeves.  There are quite a lot around.  For wide ones with different shapes, add width to the basic patterns intersecting panels or cutting "gores", as in a skirt.  I think you're going to teach yourself a lot with this exercise, well done!

This online version of a 1942 dressmaking book explains how to draft an individualized sleeve pattern, and then change that pattern to make different shapes of sleeves:

You can watch Ebay for vintage sleeve/yoke patterns but they are often popular and you may have to fight for one you find. They are from earlier in the 1900's and I haven't seen any reprints. The one I have has 8 different sleeve patterns and 5 yoke patterns.
