I love CRAFTSTER and check out this site whenever I get stumped on work projects. I am the lead seamstress of a large production company and make anything and everything the clients want for their custom events and parties. It is really fun but some time really stressful. I usually have a ridiciously tight time line- but have never missed a dead line! This time it is one more white vintage looking Vegas style show girl git up exactly like in my previous post:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=317022.0

and six red ten bikini style suits for a grand opening of a casino. I have a month this time around....thank goodness. What do you think?

Enjoy - and check out my white show girl post!  Cheesy

some quick sketches and some different versions

So four days of solid shopping I *think* I got everything for my six sets and the other white one.

epaulets for the white costume

this is iffy...

MOCK UP MOCK UP MOCK UP! Wow, for once I have time (a month) to make a mock up! YIPEE

just pinned for the mock up

my mock up sporting the belt

Tim Gunn's words ring in my ears "MAKE IT WORK" as I leave for the day...

SUIT #1

love them cheap bras!

I love you mr. industrial, never ceases to amuse me- only one broken needle

hot glue is freaking amazing...and FREAKIN HOT!

trim as close as possible

in front of the wall of trim

coming along nicely! now... to make seven more....

will post more pictures tomorrow- it's late now! Any feed back is great! Smiley

the floor after the first one....these babies were everywhere- even in my bra! Wink

It's exhausting looking at it!

How will you finsh the inside so it isn't scratchy?

I guess you can't really adjust the sequins much, but would contouring them a little bit around the bra (like on the mock-up) make for a more flattering line?

I really like the idea of the little skirt part as I think it adds a bit of class - if that's what you call it for a showgirl outfit!

I run a line of ribbon on the inside so it doesnt scratch. I figured by the time I get the 'bling' on the contour of the sequins won't be noticed, although, I do agree I like the mock up contour shapes! Since this is only one of six ten, I will experiment with each one!!

After googling hours of show girl costumes, I found that the majority of them wear little (or a lot) sarongs- especially the dancers. It's a fun prop usually that tears away for high kicks and such. I liked all the sarongs I saw and had a hard time deciding how I wanted to construct mine. It turned out short in the sketches, but ultimately, it will be the client that decides if it's okay or not. I had to submit my sketches and am still waiting- and with only a month to make all these babies- I got started!!  Shocked

The white show girl costume, the skirt started out short- and the client wanted a long one. I was a little sad at first because I had the short skirt and the entire costume all completed and they waited, oh, you know, about 12 hours before the party to request a long skirt. No problem- just a tad annoying. Luckily it was just the sarong and those are easy!  Roll Eyes

Bling! Bling!

what my needles look like after stitching the rhinestone strands on!!

using the cheap panty as my base

and red tee shirt material for the middle layer

then the cool outer layer

serge all three layers together w/ a strip of elastic

red belt maybe?

gold belt!

there we go- the gold as the band on the panties, the red w/ a sarong stitched to it as can use as a 'tear away' skirt for dance numbers...

looks like my sketches!!

need a few more things: gloves, head dress, necklace, rhinestone strands off of bra and shoe bling! Times five...

my feathers came in today and soo didn't match. They sent the wrong color....
