I got 99 problems, but a stitch ain't one.

It's time for the fall challenge and I'm so excited about this one! The Challenge this time has to do with October, particularly Breast Cancer Awareness and Domestic Violence Awareness. I was so inspired by the wonderful pieces of Mistress T. and lisalady161 that I thought it would make a great challenge. To honor both causes stitch up your favorite quote, your favorite role model or even a few cuss words to let us know how you really feel.

Challenge for a Good Cause!
Sept 1st-Oct 11th
Posting your project Oct 12th-Oct 18th
Voting: Oct 19th-25th
Winner Announced Oct. 26th
Prizes: A 20.00 Joann's gift card, needlework supplies

Now here's the fun part. You can enter TWICE! If both causes are dear to your heart and you can't just pick one, why not stitch up something for both. Each will count as one entry so you can double your chance of winning.  Wink

The Specifics:
Post your craft during the period of Oct 12th-Oct 18th.  No sooner. No later.
Voting will happen from Oct 19th-25th

On Oct. 26th (pacific time) a winner will be announced

Each participant can enter ONE per cause for a total of TWO INDIVIDUAL projects.

The stitching can be any size and any style of needlework.

It has to be a current piece. It can not be something that you have already made and posted.

At the end, I will set up a poll and the winner will be announced

Please DO NOT post your completed Project on this thread.

I have an idea for this but I'm quite the novice at embroidery.  I have a very personal photograph I would like to do as an embroidery.  How best to depict scars?  I'll put my thinking chaps on!   Grin

This is a great challenge, thanks for posting it.

What a great challenge. Fantastic theme. I've yet to participate in one, but I am starting to feel a little more confident in my embroidery to have a go!

I'm so pleased with how this one little part of the signature turned out that I'm going to post a WIP shot to (hopefully) satiate my urge to post this project.

ACK! I finished my first one and have plans for a second, but it's going to KILL me to wait to post this/these!  It seems somehow wrong to post the photos on flickr before the deadline, too.  3.5 weeks, can I do it?  Will I remember?

That's exactly it!  Also, I'm going to post compromising photos of it on the internet (craftster.org) around the middle of October.

Holy smokes, I've been awake in the middle of the night thinking of this design for the Domestic Violence Awareness cause.  I've also done a lot of talking to the inner child.  I spent all day on the design and stitching it.  I'm looking forward to posting these pieces on Monday.  Whew!

The prizes are: a 20.00 Joann's card and needlwork supplies. Sorry I didn't have a chance to take pictures. I just got a new puppy this weekend and he consumed all my time!

I kept waiting for inspiration to shit on my head, and it did...yesterday.  I'll do it for next year, challenge or no!

The current entries are beautiful and painful.  I had a verbally abusive parent, and I know how that screws up your self image.  When I imagine the situations that prompted these images, I don't know whether to cry or scream in anger.

Powerful stuff, ladies...really powerful stuff.
