Okay - here is the tute I used:
http://pinkchalkstudio.com/blog/2006/07/10/whiplash-challenge-water-bottle-carrier/

This is the one I made for my father:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=308754.
I decided against the pockets on the current ones, as it adds a lot of work and not enough use for me to make it worthwhile.

And here is a link to LittleMe's variation, where I had gotten the pocket idea:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=307130.0;all

And HeartofMary is the one I was thinking about wiht the other variation:

Cool, eh?

And here are some pics of the D-ring construction:

I chose this one because you can see the pink stitiching.  You just sew both D-rings in like this, then thread them like this:

I hope the visuals help!!

i must make these for myself! i take 2 long walks daily with my FH and i usually end up lugging both water bottles. i love all the different ways everyone has made them too, the pocket idea is great!

i will add this to my list of cool things i feel everyone needs. hmmm wonder if the guys would end up stealing them for their beer bottles.

hmm....dreaming of what fabrics to use!

I'm gonna make some too. I have three store bought ones that I carry all the time, so I know I'd use one I made and could show off!  :-)  I think I may make mine with a drawstring opening though, to make them more secure in the holders.  I wonder how it would work?

Did you look at HeartofMary's version?  That had a kind of a drawstring top - I'm not sure how she made hers, but she might be willing to share her method!

These are cute Padester, thanks for the link to mine. You have a great use of that D ring. I have to hurry up & make more - they are really popular.

You're very welcome!  I just wish my pocekts looked as cool as yours - I didn't want to sew through tions of interfacing,so didn't use it on mine.  That would probably have helped! Tongue

And, yes, these are totally cool, and very useful! I am looking forward to many trips to the amusement park without having to supply dirnks to the kids all day long!~

Yes, now all you'll have to worry about are bathroom breaks LOL!! Thanks for the compliment. Yeah, sewing thru layers of interfacing is a pain. I am tho, going to buy a heavy duty sewing machine soon which should solve that prob - woo hoo!!!
