Hello Smiley  I've inherited a sewing machine from my grandma, and while it works like a dream, I really want to know how old it is... easier said than done, really!  I've scoured the internet for ages but to be honest, the brand "CaprÝ" just doesn't seem to be coming up (just info about Singer Capris, which it is definately not.  That'd be like calling a donkey a racehorse  Wink).  It's not too old, probably about 20-25 years old, but I'd like a more definate date if anyone can help.  The model number is 167 and the serial number is probably m-91630605... at least, the was the only thing that resembled a serial number that I could find on it.

You aren't likely to get an exact date.  It bears a striking resemblance to the Singer 257 from the early to mid 1970's.   If it is based on this model, then expect to find several plastic gears.

Holy crap, that is similar!  Maybe mine's a cheaper knock-off type dealy... you've lost me about the plastic gears part, though, sorry Sad  As in, actual gears?  Whereabouts?  (I'm not very knowledgeable about sewing machines in general).

She means inside.
As in the bits that actually make the machine do its job.

Oh right yeah, duh on my part really :|  Wasn't sure if there was another part of the machine called the gear... yeah.  If finding a date involves actually opening up the machine then I'll just go with guesstimates, thank you anyway.
