This poor little guy has been traveling around with me for the past six years.

I originally rescued it from a former rental house before I moved (it had belonged to a previous tenant and the owner was selling the place.

It lived for a few years on the patio at the next rental, much to the dismay of the landlady. It interfered with her "style."

It then spent a few years as a plant stand/weed support/paint swatch test victim/emergency seating in the house that we finally bought. It spent most of its days tucked into a neglected corner of the yard.

Several coats of yellow farm equipment paint, and about an hour with a sewing machine later:

I love it now  Cheesy

AWESOME transformation, but I think those pillows kind of kill it. Maybe try using solid colored black pillows?

The bench is beautiful on its own!  (but you need pillows for comfort, of course!)  Great work!!

Wow! Love the bright color.

A couple questions because I've been wanting to do something like this for a while.

1) What type of paint did you use? Any recomendations?
2) Did you make the pillows/cushions? If so, what type of fabric did you use?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm really inspired! Thanks for sharing.

Fabulous!  Is that upholstery fabric?  Where did you get the damask fabric?

Thanks for all of the compliments Smiley

To answer the paint question, I used Rust-Oleum "farm series" spray paint, in John Deere Yellow. It took four cans/coats to fully cover it. I thought it would be the easiest type of paint to use, since there are so many small holes in the bench.

The fabric was purchased as remnants at JoAnn Fabrics. The damask fabric for the cushions is upholstry fabric, and the fabric for the pillows is a woven cotton. I think it's one of the quilting fabrics.

Glad you like it!

That yellow really pops and I absolutely love the red and black fabric. I like the contrasts with the black & white, red and yellow.
Don't you love it when something that was scroungy becomes show-stopping?

I am so bad at putting different prints together and it's something I constantly try to improve upon. I would never have thought to put those two fabric prints together, but the result is AWESOME! I love all the colors together, especially the yellow and the red/pinkness of the pillows adds such a great punch! Great job!!!
