How are everyone's projects going?  finishing up?

i started re-reading AFFC yesterday.  i'm already enjoying it more than the first time around.  it's just... so different... from the other 3, that the first time i read it, i think all the new characters and storylines were distracting and i didn't focus very well on what was going on.  much better this time.

Is this a book I should be reading? The cover looks interesting.

oh my gosh most definitely!

this is a series, not just one book.  the first one is a Game of Thrones.  there are currently 4 books in the series, eventually there will (hopefully, if they all get written) seven.  the fifth is almost finished.

while this series is epic fantasy, it is like no other fantasy i've ever read.  to me it seems as much historical fiction-inspired as fantasy-inspired.

if nothing else, get through a game of thrones.  the first few chapters tend to turn away some people, but give it time, and if you make through most of that book, i can almost guarantee you'll be hooked Smiley

True story. A lot of people give up in the first five chapters because there are so many names and places being thrown around. Most authors tend to start out with: "Hey, welcome to the world, let me tell you what has happened to bring you up to this point," and give you 5 chapters of backstory. Martin, on the other hand throws you in feet first with a "Don't worry, you'll figure it out," attitude.

If you can make it to chapter 10-ish, you'll be hooked. I give you my word as a fangirl. Grin

Working hard to finish.  Should be done in a few days.  Hope it's worth the wait.

I'm actually surprised about that. I read the first two chapters online at 2am one night and nearly panicked because had to wait until the book store opened to read more. Smiley
