Tee's for the Troops.. Pillows

So I saw a segment on the Nightly News the other night about a lady that sends pillows over to the troops.. and thought it would be something fun for the kids to make to keep them out of that summer boredom they love so much!.. Hubby loves those white t's.. and they are so soft and comfy.. but we have a huge pile of them b/c he wears them a few times and then they go on the "im done with them pile".. so why not up-cycle them!.. I screen printed flies on them.. dont know why we picked a fly.. but why not.. kept the fabric a double layer & sewed them.. the kids stuffed them real good and stitched the hole shut.. they'll be on their way to a troop over in Afghanistan tomorrow.. Hopefully to brighten their spirits!

Thanks!.. They are super comfy.. nothing better than a nice soft t-shirt!.. Hubby thinks I'm crazy!.. "You're.. sending... fly..... pillows??".. haha.. to each his own I guess they say!.. Cant wait to see what picture the kids pick out next to use..

Those are awesome! My friend got back from Iraq last year, and he said that when the soldiers are out doing field work, recon, etc... that they would often sleep on nothing but dirt.
I love the idea of a fly. Next time y'all ought to stencil a scorpion or some other desert bug on them.

I don't support war, in terms of WAR... but since real people are over there in REAL pain and discomfort, I support support for the people. If that makes sense. I love this idea... a t-shirt pillow... <3

That is such a sweet idea! One of my best friends was on his first tour (now on his 3rd) and I made him a HUGE care package and quickly figured out the box I was using was far too big. I ended up sewing up a LIME GREEN checker board pillow (the closest fabric I had) and putting it on top so all the goodies wouldn't slide around. Wouldn't you know he said that was the best thing he received?! He said the guys in his unit kept trying to take his pillow! So GREAT job and GREAT idea. I know the troops greatly appreciate it
