I recently took part in the Pick 'n Choose (round 3) swap and have literally been bursting to be able to share this project. One of the themes I was to craft for was "Springtime" (including butterflies) and so was born this project.

I used the following two patterns:

The pattern for the mittens was adapted from a book that I got out of the library, basically I used the pattern they said to use for guidance and then did my own thing anyway. I can't remember what the book was called though.

I will add photos of the mittens when my camera starts behaving but here is the beret. It is crochetecd in double knit mosss green wool. The mittens are made of the same wool but are lined with cream microfleece. Both feature butterflies crocheted in beige double knit wool which has a gold thread running through it, seed beeds are hand sewn to the butterfly to form the body with a pearl effect bead for the head (this is odd as another of the themes was pearls).

I have an order for 6 of these berets for christmas presents! Cheesy

The pictures of the mittens are here:

I highly reccommend both patterns. The beret is made straight rather than in the round then you sew up the seam so it's really easy to fit it and alter the size to suit and the butterfly appliqu is the best one I found. (also beginner friendly)

The hat looks equally as good without anything on it and I will be making it in a variety of colours!

Awh, that's so pretty. I love the butterfly.
I might try that beret pattern. It's sounds really easy, and the result is awesome.
Thanks for sharing!
