I made these from the free patterns at mypicot.com.  They're based on butterfly2, although if you're going to make these, be sure to read butterfly1 first, because 2 is all in symbol crochet and 1 has the instructions!

I'm going to send these butterflies (and maybe a few more) to the Holocaust Museum Houston's Butterfly Project.  They're collecting 1.5 million handmade butterflies to represent the 1.5 million children who died in the Holocaust.  If you're interested, the info is here:  http://www.hmh.org/minisite/butterfly/index.html

Thanks for looking!  Smiley

Those are super pretty. Would be great appliqued on a denim skirt. Great that you're sending them to the Butterfly project.

So pretty!

Approximately how big are they? I might be willing to try making these for my daughter. Smiley

Thanks!

Mine came out 6 1/2 -- 7 1/2 inches wingtip to wingtip.  It depends on the size thread you use.  Also, the pattern itself has three different sizes/variations.

Ahh, butterflies.  These are sooo cute.   They would make great appliques.  They are going to be a nice addition to the butterfly project.  Good job!!!

What lovely butterflies! So pretty!

The Butterfly Project story made my eyes tear and my heart ache for all the lost children.
