I was invited to my friend's baby shower but had no idea what to get her, and I was broke too!  I remembered that my mom still saved some of her handmade baby shower gifts from when I was a baby, and decided that a homemade gift was likely to be appreciated and remembered. I like the idea of very simple, very homemade-looking (since I'm not the best at sewing!) I made this bunny out of fabric scraps. The body was handsewn with very soft stretchy cotton and stuffed with the same. For the pattern I just winged it. I made a VERY simple dress for the bunny and embroidered a nose, eyes, mouth, whiskers on the face, and the baby's name on the butt (Sort of Xavier Roberts style? Grin) There is a heart embroidered on the dress. It turned out to be the only handmade gift my friend received, and she did love it AND kept it even though her baby is no longer a baby!  I made her promise to let her daughter play with it and not keep it put away (as my mom did. Really, what's the use of toys, handmade or otherwise, if you can't play with 'em?)

Did it take long?  I have a baby shower on Thursday (sept 5)  Did you hand sew or machine sew.  Nice Job on the bunny.  I bet it will be played with and cuddled for a long time to come.

so sweet. I loved the very few hand made things my older daughter received at her baby shower. Unfortunately we didn't have one for my second daughter so I made sure I made her some special things.

It didn't take long to make, and it'd go a lot faster if it was machine sewn. I sewed it by hand because it wasn't very big.

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. I know it's no great sewing creation, but it's cute in a folkart sort of way and special because I made it by hand.
