If you stumble, make it part of your dance.

My mom and I have decided to try doing craft fairs, but we have no idea where to begin! I make jewelry and she does purses. Do we need to get a business name or do any tax forms or anything! Is it best to start with an open craft fair?I just don't know where to start at this moment! Anyone got any advice to reduce the stress? Any little things you learned when you first began?

I was told that I dont need a business license because I don't live within the city limits but you could call the courthouse and ask the city or county clerk where you live.   Also you should apply for an EIN (employer identification number) as you will be collecting and paying tax on your items that you sell.  Good Luck.

Thank you zspun! I will have to call the courthouse this week and figure that out!

No problem.  Remember that the most important thing is to have fun and don't get too stressed  Grin

Where I live, the business license is a state, not city, requirement.  The cool thing about being registered as a business is that you register your business name and nobody else in your state can have it.
