Did you use a pattern for the corset?

I'm pretty sure that was a really intensely modified Simplicity 9769.

Wow, you are incredible. Where did you find the fringe for the corset? I'm thinking of making a flapper Halloween costume, so any heads up would be appreciated.

Hi! Yeah, it's a really fun coat.. very swishy. I'll probably line it sometime, it'd be the ultimate dramatic rain coat.

Wow, you are incredible. Where did you find the fringe for the corset? I'm thinking of making a flapper Halloween costume, so any heads up would be appreciated.

Incredible?  Embarrassed Thank you! That's really sweet of you to say. I just got the fringe from work, so your local(if you have a local one) JoAnn Fabrics will have it near the ribbons, and I know Hancock Fabrics has it, along with a very small selection at Hobby Lobby, and Vogue Fabrics has it. I believe it's called chainette fringe, specifically, and I lovelovelove it.

I'm bad ass, or the costumes are? Well, either way, woo! This made my day! Thanks.  Wink

Yeah, living near Chicago has its perks for stuff like this. You might be able to find someplace nearby you that would let you start up something fun, don't fret! All it takes is a question, and the worst they can tell you is no, right?

Little sidenote, that Chromaggia corset? Reeeeeeeeally comfortable. I have to make one sans fringe so that I can wear it more often. The fringe kind of kills any hope of being able to wear it at the drop of a hat.

I love your coat. I fell in love with the movie but when I saw Mag's coat I told myself I would make myself one. Still waiting for that day, but I have measurements already. So a little at a time.

Those look wonderful!  I may be making Mag's Chase the Morning coat soon myself...need to figure out how to shape that elaborate hood.  Right now, I'm starting on Amber's Blame Not my Cheeks dress, which will be an insane project!  Grin

Vegantastic, the hood is actually really easy. Measure how much of the neckline you want it to cover, and that's your bottom measurement. Cut that in half from the back seam, and that'll be how big you need to make the bottom line of your hood pieces(in red in the badly done paint sketch below). The purple line is the opening of the hood, and make that much taller than you think you need. I did mine by putting my coat on, measuring from the point I wanted the hood to end from, and making it very slack to the center of the top of my head(I did right at my hairline, in line with my nose to make it center-ish), and that's that measurement. Then I drew a very slopey---technical term, that---line to do the back. The bigger the slope, the fuller the hood, basically. I tested it in muslin first, to make sure it would drape how I wanted, and paperclipped that to my coat, since pinning would leave holes in the vinyl.

Hope that helps!
