I just discovered that the photos on the original site had been changed and were  no longer displaying here.  I have no replaced the images in this tutorial so that, hopefully, it can be a useful tut all over again.

BTW, I am laying under this quilt.  I have been in bed with pneumonia enjoying the warmth of this heavy monster for the last 10 days and I can't say that I have enjoyed it more than this past week.  (I'm getting better, so no worries!)  I'll be getting married soon and I can't wait to share this quilt with my new husband.  Smiley Smiley Smiley

Thanks for putting back the pictures!  I have managed to put together a stack of squares but had to stop when I ran out of jeans!  I am ready to get back to this over the winter...your quilts are just my taste and I just love looking at them (the huge blue scrappy one you made is stunning!)...

I just re-read all of your tips...are you working on another? Cheesy

Hope you feel better, and congrats on your upcoming marriage!

Aaaawwwwww....  Thanks.  I DO feel better.  "Better living through chemistry!" haha.  Seriously, I had forgotten how brutal pneumonia could be  I WAS walking approx 4 miles each day and now I am gonna start with a half mile tomorrow again.  It has only been 11 days and wow!

I would like to make a nice wedding gift quilt for my beloved.  I have so many images and books and magazines to inspire me--where do I start?!?!?!  Oh, yeah, that fabric stash, right?  ha!

I am glad that others can find some encouragement from the experiences I can share here.  I hope that folks can see that quilting is inherently do-able and a great kind of therapy.

If you are looking for old jeans to add in, don't be hesitant to let any of the geezers in your neighborhood/church/job know that you want these things.  Almost everybody has a beloved pair that they can't bear to discard but would be perfectly happy adding them to a "good cause".  You can also find great ones at places like resale shops.  There are so many bizarre dresses/skirts out that that make great yardage.  As a last resort, be on the lookout for sales at the fabric shops, too.  Sometimes, you can find freaky denims that add a nice pizazz.

Thank you so much for fixing the pics. I've had this bookmarked for ages with the hope of finally making one. Your tute is fantastic. Thank you for the extra tips. I'm glad that you're on the mend. Get well soon and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

Jinjeet,

I am glad you are inspired by this.  My (now) husband and I are sleeping under this every night except when he hogs the entire giant thing and I am left with my little Mexican blanket.  Angry   hahahahaha

I am working on a different one now made with the blue jeans of a beloved friend's husband for their grandbaby that is soon to be born.  Smiley

Dang!  A bunch of the photos had disappeared again!  I just edited the post to include them plus an update.  I still use this every night and love it.

The shams, though, well, they suck.  Not comfy at all.  They are only for show.
