OGD - I hope you get better quickly!  My FIL just had bronchial pneumonia a week or so ago.  And now you're the second person today that I've heard of that has pneumonia.  Too weird.  My son had it at thirteen months...that sucked.  Thirteen attempts to get an IV in his tiny little veins and all failed.  Bad memories.

We always hope and pray that nothing unexpected comes up (in a negative way) but there's always something at some point in life.  Some people we knew were doing great, had just built a house, had a baby and then when she was pregnant with her second about 18 months later, she developed preeclampsia a month before her due date and they ended up in hospital having a 3 lb. baby.  NICU for almost a month and off work for that time.  I'm assuming they must have had something to fall back on, but can you imagine that sort of situation if you didn't?  It would just wreck you.

Thank you all for your tips and everything!  Great news today (well, I think it's great!) Things are looking rosier than they might otherwise look for my mom, so I know she'll be okay with a little tightening of the belt!

And ooh, OGD, feel better!!!

And ack, itchyfingers - I agree, preparing for the unexpected makes things much less scary!  (I'm reading Total Money Makeover right now!)
