Opie Sac...You'd Think He's Spoiled or Something

Our mini-doxie, Opie, doesn't like his feet touching the floor - he prefers to be carried EVERYWHERE. We're always saying that we need a little backpack to carry him around in. I finally gave it a go today. I started out engineering something totally crazy - with straps and velcro and elastic but eventually I decided - "hey, I'll just sew a pocket to a t-shirt!".

So I made a big fleece lined pocket and sewed it to a matching t-shirt! I made a strap that attaches to the front of the pocket and then goes around your neck so the pocket doesn't fall forward. The fleece lining made it really bulky and hard to sew but it's nice and cozy so I guess it was worth it.

He LOVES the final product. He doesn't ever want to leave his pocket now and even sleeps in it! Ha!! Our Great Danes are soooo jealous. They want to be carried around too. Here are some pics...

OMG, this is awesome!!!  My bf and I joke we need a backpack for our bulldog too because we like to walk places but he gets tired pretty quick.
I'll be making a ring sling for my pup for the MSPCA walk we're doing in September!!  This is GREAT!!!  Thanks for sharing!

my mini dachshund Zippy is getting one of these stat! I originally thought of something more like a baby sling, but he's too wiggly. T-shirt pocket ahoy!

That is adorable.  Opie looks like he is really loving it!  I will definitely need to consider this for my small dog for when I go on long walks that are too long for her.  Thanks for the idea.

Opie is adorable. I have a mini chocolate weiner dog named Peanut. She would love a little carrier like that. She was my baby before I started having kids and she has felt slighted sense I brought home other babies.  Peanut isn't quite as long as Opie though. She's only about a 7 pounder and is 9 years old. How old is your Opie?

this is a great idea! I need one of these for work! We get dogs that want to be held alot and it would make life grand!

Thanks for the nice comments! I'm totally enjoying watching my "I'm more of a big dog person" fiance walking around with Opie on his chest all day. I think he likes it just as much as Opie does!! I can't help but laugh whenever I look at them.

Peanut sounds adorable! I love chocolates. Opie is a year old now and just under 9 pounds.
