Beautiful.  I love your use of the aqua thread on that wave-like patterned fabric.  That picture reminds me of the illustrations in the coloured Fairy Book series by Andrew Lang - vintage fairy tales from around the world.

I love this! Your stitching is beautiful. But most importantly I love that this isn't on just plain ol' fabric. The fabric pattern really changes the entire piece. Truly awesome!

Remember the time he ate my goldfish and you lied to me and said I never had a goldfish? Then why'd I have the bowl Bart?

Why.

Did I Have.

The Bowl??

beautiful work!

you may know this already, but the illustrations from that book are based on colleen moore's fairy castle.

she was a film star in the 20s, and had all her hollywood set designer friends help build this enormous dollhouse.. it's still on display at the chicago museum of industry and science.

Not only is your embroidery work stunning, and your choice of fabric to embroider on perfect, but Thank You Thank You Thank You for introducing me to Marie Lawson's illustrations! They are utterly charming. I had never heard of Collen Moore or her dollhouse before your post, and not I've bled that flicker thread for all it is worth.

Have you ever heard of the International Children's Digital Library? http://en.childrenslibrary.org/ It is a fantastic resource. Not everything is copyright free, but the books that you can read/ explore from around the world are amazing.
