My family is going to be a carnival sideshow for Halloween and I need a good idea for my newborn.  He'll be 3 months old then and I've researched every sideshow idea I can, but I just can't think of what would work for him.  I'm going to be The Tattooed Wonder, my husband's going to be The Bearded Lady, and my then 3 year-old is going to be The Strong Man, but what should the little guy be?  He can be in a stroller or snuglie carrier (facing my husband or me) if that helps determine what he should be.  Also, for trick-or-treating it is pretty cold and sometimes raining on our Halloweens.  Any great sideshow "freak" ideas for a baby?

Think of all the freakshows that displayed moshed together animal pieces, in jars of formaldehyde.  He could be a mermaid baby, a turtle baby, a three-armed baby, a unicorn baby, a clown, he could be a trapeze artist, and you could hang a little trapeze bar from his stroller.  Ooh, or! he could be a magic juggling baby, you could suspend little balls at different heights above him--he juggles them with his mind!  'Course, that one you'd have to explain to people.

I was thinking along the lines of Aislynn - mermaid was the first thing that came to mind, or lizard man! (Er.. lizard baby.).

Yeah mermaid is what we were going to do if we had a baby girl, but are people going to think he's a little girl if we make him half-fish?  Maybe we could wear signs or something and his could spell out that he's The Amazing Fish Boy or something.

You could always make him little gauntlets with those fin things on them, and maybe a hat, and make it more of a masculine fish-boy costume.  And the tail could be more slimey than sparkly.  And then, if you could make a sign, like the old carnivals used to have, that'd be so much the better!

You could have him as a fortune teller, lay out a magic ball and tarot cards on the front of the stroller, maybe a third eye? Smiley

The third eye would be hilarious, but I love the arm fins and hat fin idea.  That with the signs would be perfect.  I'm really excited to do this now!

For good measure you could attach a few extra limbs to his costume.  An arm or leg sticking out of the chest would be awesome  Wink  Just get a cheap baby doll and pull it apart.

He could be conjoined twins. Maybe find a soft doll that you could sew to a one piece body suit.

I like the conjoined twin idea. Or he could be "Goat Boy"... half boy, half goat! You could probably do just about any half boy/half animal.

Or you could always dress him up as the Ringleader! Smiley
