This was my first attempt at something larger than a scarf as well as following a pattern.  I made the BBBB for my friend's baby, Ethan, who turned one last Saturday.  I had wanted to make him a blanket before he was born but my fear of knitting something large plus work and life stuff made me wait...then I waited so long that I realized it would have to be a first birthday present.

I used the yarn is Patons Classic Wool (Merino) in "Worn Denim" and "Taupe".  I didn't really think about the fact that you would have to hand wash it when I picked it out.  I intended to use whatever yarn she recommended in SnB, but I couldn't find it and the girl who helped me pick this out said it was the closest she could offer.  It's fine, the colors match the baby's room and it's very warm which is essential in Chicago.

Without further ado:

and closer for a better idea of the colors:

C and C welcome and appreciated!

Thanks for looking :]

Very nice colour choices!  BBBB was my very first knitting project (I was all "go big or go home" at the time, now I mostly knit hats and mitts)

Wool will make it a nice blanket for special outtings for sure.  It'll keep him good n' warm!

Thanks!   Grin

I think a hat is next, but that makes me nervous too.  I'll probably do a totally unrelated project first.

Ooh, I really enjoy the colours you used for the blanket.  I hadn't thought about using two different colours knit together, but it seems so obvious now!

I'm working on my own BBBB for my half-brother's newborn son right now.  After making two blankets, I still had yarn leftover, so I thought I might as well do this one as a slightly fancier version.  It'll probably be summer by the time I finish the thing, but maybe they can still use it...  In any case, it's good practice.

Have you posted the others?

You can always use a blanket...even in summer...to have a picnic on the living room floor or to build a fort :]
