For anyone who's started this sweater already- Do you think it would work with 4 strands of Sugar'n Cream cotton (or equivalent) held together?  That way it wouldn't be so hot.  I live in Florida and don't really have a need for warm sweaters, but I think this is darling.

4 strands of cotton is still going to be pretty warm, I have a tank with one strand and can only wear it on cooler days. Also, that's going to be really heavy.

Instead of going for the super bulky yarn thickness, I'd do only a couple strands, it won't be so loose as to be see through, and even a single strand of worsted can be knit on a size 11 needle without being too airy. Looser sts let the air flow through too. A worsted and fingering would be good together.

Soozeq-  Thanks so much for your help!   Kiss  I really don't have a clue about yarn weights and such.  I've been researching things more, so I can getting a better grasp on the technical aspects of knitting.  I'm working on my first garment now (a circular shrug), but hope to start this sweater sometime in September.

I love quick knits!
But at the moment I'm knitting a vintage 4ply sweater which has been knitting up very slowly.. it might be nice to get a break from the tiny yarn, and knit this thing, i was able to knit the 3 hour sweater in 2.5 days so i think i will be able to knit this over the weekend..

Ok, I finally got started. Sorta. Lol.
What had happened was this: I got yarn (2 worsted weights) and converted inches into mm's and discovered that I'd need 17's. According to my math. Anyway, I got started, 28 stitches as instructed and I ran into an issue. I can't wear a 14. I sew vintage patterns and I know that I need a 16. Does anyone have any thoughts on adjustment for size? I'm not 100% on the gauge I had but I know that I'm a pretty tight knitter, hence 28 stitches on 17s not being wide enough for someone who wears 8/10 jeans, lol!

I wear size 12 jeans and the sweater is more then big enough for me, it has a good 6-10 more inches of stretch over my 37 inch hips, I had an idea to finish my sweater without buying more yarn but it accidentally got put in a wrong box and is now in my storage shed so I have to go through some boxes to find it this weekend or sooner and then I promise to post pictures or it I've been a picture slacker

Well, I started, had to leave it alone, and picked it back up. I'm using 2 strands of some acryllic I had around ( I wasn't sure I'd have enough of anything else). It's funny looking while on the needles - it's curled and looks too small for my 6 year old, but too long for me! I figure if I can't wear it, I'll give it to her, but I do seem to be getting guage, so ....

I finaly have pictures, I still have to finish the sleeve which I might do later
Here it is

i did a v-neck, long sleeves and added 5 inch to the bottom which I'm really glad it did because its still shorter then I expected. its soft and cozy and super duper warm.
I'm making another one of these for my little sis but with a hood, I'm sure the second one will go a lot faster

Sweater's looking great tattooedcrafter.

Had a chat with my Mum yesterday and she's decided she want 3/4 length sleeves. I think this may end up as a Christmas present for her.

I've had to put mine down and completely concentrate on my 13 days of halloween swap, but I'll get back to the sweater as soon as I've sent of that swap.
