I was perusing the thrift stores (as I often do) and saw this diamond in the rough sitting there. I knew this would be perfect for one of my most dearly loved friends, so I picked it up, not knowing exactly what to do with it.
There it sat for months and months. I had the intention of making into an altar, but was short on ideas.

Then my friend's birthday rolled around, I had a breakup that same week, and voila! The need to keep my mind occupied and the pressure of a deadline created this!

I am very happy with how it turned out and my friend loved it. He is going on a spiritual sojourn for a year and said he was sad to leave the previous altar I had given him (again from a thrift store, but it was already nice without any alteration from me) because it was too big. Now he has something more portable!

At my lemonade stand I used to give the first glass away free and charge five dollars for the second glass... the refill contained the antidote.

That's a great transformation!  You'd never suspect it was originally a nautical theme/boat thing!  What an honor that your gift gets to travel with your friend on his sojourn.

Oh my God, I think that's the prettiest thing I have ever seen! I absolutely love the color combinations, and the little gold details on the drawers, and the sun patterns! I am incredibly jealous of your friend! This would make an excellent dresser!

I like this piece.  The color combinations are nice.  Do you refinish a lot of things?  Is it a hard process?   Very good job.

Awww, thanks for all the feedback!
In response to morglanc, this is the first thing I've ever really refinished. The sanding part was kind of hard because I had to do it by hand and had some really cheap dollar store sandpaper, but other than that, it was easy and fun!
