About a year ago i saw a license plate mailbox for sale on some website for about $300 and I really loved it but it wasn't the kind that was wall mounted so I didn't get it. (i also didn't want to spend $300 for a mailbox)

A few weeks ago I made a california mailbox and I kinda over did it and made a few more. Here is a picture of the one I have mounted.

the design is really simple but they are a pain in the butt to make. after making a few of these i have realized i am not as strong as i thought i was, i had to get my dad to break some of the rivets for me.

That is really awesome! Are there certain postal specifications that you have to make it to?

I looked it up and I couldn't find any rules for wall mounted mailboxes but I do know that the curbside mailboxes have certain specifications. The woman who delivers our mail loves my mailbox, she says its the most unique one she has seen in our area.

Cool. I have some license plates that I got a while ago at a garage sale and have been wanting to do something with them. I don't think they are right for something like this but you've definitely inspired me to rethink my mailbox!  Grin

I love this-Nice work! I might have to do this, we have a bunch of different plates cause my DH has lived all over the US. It'd be a nice way for him to keep em useful and remember the places he's been.  Thanks for the inspiration!

I am a letter carrier and I would love delivering mail to this box.  Looks plenty roomy enough for lots of mail! Wink
