Sew Classic is THE expert on sewing machine repair and maintenance.  There is also a Yahoo group for Singer Slant Machines.  Just go to Yahoo Groups and put in Singer sewing machines and the group will come up.  I am the fairly new owner of a Singer 403 and 503.  Very Cool and Fun machines!!

Good luck!!
