Hi guys, I have a question for you all.  I have a website right now.  It is hosted by bravenet and costs about $9 a month, which is not much at all, but it adds up really quickly on the months where you don't have a sale.  I also have a selling journal through.  The live journal account is free and very easy to use and navigate, but is definitely not as professional looking or anything.  What do you think??  Would you be less likely to buy from the free website because it isn't a "Real" website or does that even matter to you.. you would not need to have a live journal account to make a purchase , because I still have paypal cart set up and everything.  Also if I did that I would still transfer my domain name so that when you typed it in it would redirect to my livejournal page.  I am really torn about doing this, but it would save me money--I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing because my website took a lot of work!  Thanks for your opinions...

xo

try angeltowns.com for free hosting. there's no ads either! i use it and it's fantastic!

i think the lj thing is a good idea, but isn't professional in the least.

we use/love them for our website.

I use http://free.hostdepartment.com/
It's really good because you can have your own html look to it.
In my experience so far it has enough space, and there are no adds.
The only crappy thing is that it gives you a name within the site.
ie: hostdepartment.com/first letter of your username/username/page name.html

i use netfirms. The hosting is free, and at the free level you get a url like, yourname.netfirms.c om.
Not so bad. For a dot com address it's between 5 and 10 dollars a month.
They have FTP access, which is important to me.

Honestly, i wouldn't buy from an LJ.

If your still looking...
I've got DreamHost and with their 7 year sale (or whatever they're calling it) hosting for the year is only about 10$ (w/ coupon code 777).

Well, the livejournal site can look professional - you could try to make it look a bit less... "livejournally" and more customized, if you see what I mean?  Since LJ offers practically limitless customization and why pay for something if you can get it for free?

Also, at www.dot.tk you can get free domain forwarding, so you could have someone go to, say, www.knitting_panda. tk and they'd get taken straight to your livejournal so they'd never know.

And lots of people have very successful LJ businesses, so don't fret ^_^
