I made this for my partner in the Stargate Swap. I saw this fantastic post here less than a week before I had to send, but I was instantly in love with the idea. I had to work frantically on it, but I think it was worth it.

All pictures by my wonderful partner, angelcallie.

I used thick cardboard for the 'frame' and symbol, paper towels to get the old, crackled leather feel, and painted it with acrylics.

This is what the color is more like - forgive the glare, I kinda varnished it within an inch of its life Grin

Closeup of the Stargate symbol for Earth.

The inside.

angelcallie says she'll turn it into a travel journal, which is very appropriate considering it has the symbol for 'home' on it Grin

Original tutorial is by Dave Low, but Urban Threads wrote one too, which has way more pictures and details for each step.

Very nice indeed.  Look like some extra care went into this one.  I love the finish on it.
