I stitched up my pillowcase today. Usually, I go without a theme but decided to try something different this time around.

My theme is my favorite song -- X's "Fourth of July. People in my group shouldn't panic though. I'll send around a copy of the lyrics and feel free to be literal with it or to go with something completely random that the song just makes you think of. One of the reasons I love it so much is that it's such a visual song. Every time I hear it I can imagine the weather, time of day, etc. But I digress ...

Here it is:

The specific lyrics here are: "On the stairs I smoke a/cigarette alone/Mexican kids are shootin'/fireworks below." I may need to redo the word "alone" since it looks a bit like "done."

Love that metallic floss, GatsbyGirl -- your pic really captured the shimmeriness of it.

I actually did think it said "done", until I read what you posted below the pic. Could you get by with just restitching the first two letters??? I like the font of your words -- is that your handwriting?

Agreed. I also love how you did "fireworks" in the metallic floss.

Using a song for a theme is such a great idea!

I love instant gratification almost as much as I love parentheses!

I love it GatsbyGirl! My theme is similar, it's words - favorite lyrics, poems, quotes, what-have-you. Smiley

Finally ironed my towel and got some decent pictures.  Here is my initial design:

I'm so glad I bound it ... I love the way it looks!

I am thinking of asking for an "underwater" theme.  Now I just have to exercise some restraint and not keep adding to it for the next week and a half!

Looks great! Put it in the envelope and seal it up so you won't do anything else until sendouts! Cheesy

j.q. ~ I like it Smiley. I'm envious of those of you who can bind the edges. Me + sewing machine = general frustration. I agree with AlwaysInspired, put it in an envelope and seal it!! (but be sure to baste or safety pin your name and address to it first)

John , I love it and I love your binding.   Makes me want to put a binding on mine before it leaves.   I usually put it on after it returns.   Your towel is looking like one of mine.  I started with an octopus on one of my towels too and had an ocean /sewing theme.    I love the ocean and the creatures in it.  Maybe I'll be in your group so I can stitch one up.
