finally busting out da yudu for a spin!

After buying a yudu I let it sit for over a month before I had the courage to try it out. Her are my first couple of shirts and I am loving my new toy! I just got some different colors of speedball to try out so the next shirt will be colored. Not quite sure how to use the computer programs to seperate layers for multi colors but that is my next step!

My first shirt I made was for a swap. Nothing like pressure to get it right!

This was the second shirt for the same swap. haha it was for a pimp your user name swap.

This lil onsie was made for my best pals first baby Violet the week before she was born. She just arrived last week and I will be making her all sorts of stuff!
They are just black inked projects but I am very proud of my first shirts!

You should be, great job. I've seen that toy advertised. You give it time, and you will be a master before you know it (but looking at this work, it seems you already are).

how was the yudu for you?? work well..

the only thing I was wondering about was the ink...so you can use the speedball ink??

Thanks for the comments! Yes you can use speedball ink but it is a bit more liquidy and you have to clean your screens quickers than you do with the Yudu. There is a forum of yudu users who have tried and tested many other products. Yudu materials are so expensive and these are alternate ways to use materials that are the same as those pricey ones. i have a yudu, that i bought a few weeks ago and have yet to use as well.

Are there any other options as far as the transparencies go?  I havnt been able to find any in stores, and i'm scared to use the ONE that came with the machine bc i'm afraid i'll mess up and wont have any backups.  I could order them online but i'd rather see if theres a cheaper option.

We tried using vellum instead of a transparency with mixed results.  But at $0.59 a sheet, it is worth a shot to play with.  Recently, we went to Office Depot and bought a pack of overhead transparencies that are designed to go in an ink jet printer (they have a thin paper strip at the top to help your printer recognize it) and they work fabulously!  At 50 transparencies for $45, it worked out to less than $1 per transparency.  Good luck!
