I hope this thread is still running!

My mother in law just gave me a 50lbs bag of my husband's old jeans that he can't wear anymore. Yeah, 50lbs. I have a few projects in mind, like a denim skirt with gores (I can't do pencil) and an apron... but I'm still not familiar with sewing machine usage, haha.

Will post when I get to craftin'~! Smiley

I've been keeping my eye on this thread, what with like 6 pairs of men's jeans sitting in my stash Tongue

However, I was so uninspired. I just couldn't think what to do with them, other than a basic quilt. AND THEN! I saw these projects on Cut Out & Keep:

I LOVE that jacket! The dress's selling point is definitely keeping the waistband intact for the hem.

I also found this rockin' pic of Keyshia Cole's outfit at her "Just Like You" album release party (I don't know if I've ever even heard her music, I just like her outfit Tongue).

A strapless denim catsuit?!?! WHA?!?! I know, eh! I love it Cheesy Not exactly doable for a recon unless you have very narrow hips and make a shorts version. I have a wide load, so if I make something like this, it'll be bought denim.

Are YOU inspired yet? Cheesy

Anyone still lurking here? Jean recon sounds LOVELY! My 7 year old DD is growing so fast I want to recon her old jeans.... But Wasn't inspired until now. Also- if anyone has to time to answer- How exactly would one sew denim? Do i have to use a special needle or different foot? It's just so bulky....

I have always used my normal sewing machine needles to sew denim with out any problems.
