I lucked into a great source of cheap glass beads.  I'm not much for jewelry, but I do like hair accessories and I am fascinated by shiny colorful things. 


The clips:



All together:


I made them by stringing beads on plain utility wire and wrapping them around the clip.  I did two layers to make it look more full.  They're pretty simple and only take an hour to make.  I'll probably be selling them at my next craft fair.

the wire doesnt get stuck in your hair? i mean the parts that are wrapped around the bottom? and about what gauge is the wire?

Nope, so far my hair hasn't become tangled in the wire.  I even wore one while playing kickball last week (I'm in an adult league) and I was able to remove it without a single tangle.

The wire wrapped part of the barrette doesn't really come in contact with my hair.  Here is a closer look at how the wire is wrapped:



As for the wire, I'm not sure what the thickness is, but I'd guess that it's about 16 or 17 guage.  Here is the exact wire.
