i used the popular tessellating fish afghan pattern, and used it to make a baby afghan.

i have an unruly stash, and this was the first of what i hope to be many stash-busting projects.

i made five fish each of ten colors of yarn (red, yellow, orange, lime green, medium green, blue, purple, variegated blue, variegated rainbow and variegated blue/green). all yarns are worsted-weight acrylic - red heart super-saver, red heart classic, an unidentified and likely discontinued caron yarn, and bernat super value.

i then crocheted the fish together with bright yellow bernat super value. the trim is a row of double-crochet, and a row of reverse single-crochet.

the afghan is approximately 33" square.

I love this pattern! I would love to quilt it, but could never get the fish to fit together like that.

This is lovely.

My first thought upon seeing the thumbnail was 'seaming'... all of that seaming...

You are a very brave and patient person.

Knitting goal for 2011: knit 500,000 stitches.  24,078/500,000 knit.  I think I'm going to need more yarn...

My thoughts exactly, I dont even like sewing up the side seams on baby sweaters.  This is a wicked cool baby blanket and a very good stashbuster

If it had grown up, it would have made a dreadfully ugly child; but it makes rather a handsome pig, I think.
