Recon # 1: A dress from an old pair of pants and a Burberry plaid men's shirt from goodwill. I haven't decided what to do with the hem here... Suggestions?

It has POCKETS!!!

The back has some weird gaps, but otherwise I think it looks alright.

Detail on the pleats because I'm pretty proud of them.
Recon # 2: A too big camisole + pillowcase = fun dress! This one isn't quite finished because I'm handstitching the pleats down on the front.

I've just started sewing and I had no idea how much went into making a dress look finished and polished. (not that these particularly do) Thanks for looking!

You have every right to be proud of those pleats; they look great.

that plaid dress is really cute and those pleats look AWEsome, lined up with the pattern really well.

Your first recons are inspiring.  I am trying to build up the courage to start making recons out of my old clothes instead of buying clothes this summer.  Yours look great! Both dresses look comfortable and beautiful.  Did you use a pattern from the internet or just designed it yourself?  These look great! Grats on your firsts! Cheesy

Great job on both. They will be super comfy and cool this summer!

Umm hem...other than perhaps using some of the fabric from the top to make a color contrast on the bottom I am stumped as to ideas.  Huh

i love the plaid dress.  i think making a bubble skirt would be gorgeous with that fabric and neckline.  your pleats looks awesome.  could you do them at the bottom?  you could even do the opposite column in the pattern that you did on the top.
