I've been doing a ton of crafty stuff lately, and this is a tote bag I just finished as a gift for a young woman who really likes tapirs (though I personally find tapirs a little disturbing).

The bag pattern is just a basic lined pattern I've been using forever, but the real work came in making the motif. I'm a fanatical quilter, so I just paper pieced using a pattern I made myself.

I blogged about the whole process here.

I kind of like Tapirs  - I knew exactly what it was when I saw the thumbnail.  Great job!  I wish I could quilt.

Thanks, Bobomom! A lot of people like tapirs--I just don't deal well with those ginormous nostrils. ;-)

Quilting's pretty easy once you get the hang of it! It's so much fun. I encourage everybody to try it.

Wonderful.  Nice piecing.  Do you have issues with Elephants as well (as they have ginormous nostrils as well)?  Smiley

Nice piecing.

The funny thing is, when I first saw the thumbnail, I thought it was a quilted animal wearing a diaper --- that you had made a diaper bag for someone.

Tapir noses crinkle my nose, too.

LOL! No, probably because elephant nostrils are always on the move.

Thanks, everyone. Piinkfeline, those antelopes are so cute! They look like the greeting cards with the dogs and cats with giant eyes.
