Hi guys, I've been sooo busy with my job as an art educator I've hardly had time to craft anything for myself. But no matter, crafting up ideas for the children is just as fun! I just came up with a no-sew doll-making project as a parent-child activity and pictured below are my test results. The seams were glued with ordinary white glue and blow dried/ironed till completely dry before stuffing. The designs were drawn on calico (I think) cloth with regular dobble markers we use in our classes. The idea is for the kids to learn a little bit about drawing faces and figures with simple lines, shapes, patterns and textures and in the process bring home a tangible item they can display around their rooms. Parents are able to help with the assembly of the doll while the children can have their fun designing, drawing, coloring and embellishing their creations. Let me know what you think!

What a fun idea. I remember doing something similar at summer camp when I was young- and I loved it!

Your examples are absolutely beautiful, by the way. =)

Thank you very much! I hope the children will enjoy the project too. We were using clay to create figurines at first but I think it's not something that they're likely to keep, it's costly and it takes time to dry, time we won't have for a one-off hour long activity. Hopefull this will sit well with both parents and children.
